CLIMATE FOWARD MAHARASHTRA

“Accelerating Climate Action in 43 AMRUT Cities

Maharashtra has strong aspirations to be seen as a global leader working at the intersection of economic growth, urban infrastructure development and environmental action. Towards that end, the Department of Environment and Climate Change, through the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, aims to take strong on-ground climate action across 43 AMRUT cities all of which are signatories of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Race to Zero campaign.

curiculum

A key initiative has been the launch of the ‘Accelerating Climate Action in Maharashtra’s 43 Cities’ initiative under the ‘Climate-Forward Maharashtra’ campaign. Through this programme, WRI India is supporting the Department of Environment and Climate Change, in mobilizing the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient development, through a localised-approach of plans and projects and capacity building.
